Behind the scene of setting up a Bullet Journal

It is the last day of December and it is the time when everyone starts making lists, resolutions, things that will start with January 1st. This year, for me it meant setting up my planner/bullet journal for 2023. I decided to return to A5 since I had a Filofax that was waiting with my name on it for more than 2 years.

Usually I start planning what to have and what to add in it early - cause it is something that brings me joy - but somehow 2022 went like crazy for me and I barely registered when December arrived. So final days of 2022 caught me planning for 2023 between meeting with friends, drawing for my Instagram Doodle Challenge and trying to catch up with the things I had left for this mini-vacation.

This year since I really wanted to try to get back to a personal size of planner. That meant that I had to separate the journaling part from my daily and activities journal. But even though the portability of a personal is unbeatable, I miss having all in one therefore until I find a solution to keep all at personal size, I will return to the bigger and bolder A5.

Every year I think about what are my plans for next 12 months, what are my goals and what I want to achieve. And then I create pages in my agenda to support my actions, to offer me more time, to spark my creativity and to create space to do what I love with the important people in my life.

I also think of the big chapters of my future year - those that need my focus and create for them tabs in my planner - to add ideas, materials, pictures - anything that can support my plans. And during the year those tabs become pretty crowded :) cause I love to take notes and gather things (a bit of a hoarder here).

If you want to start on this road please do your due diligence (read the Bullet Journal Method) and start small with what you have - a planner, an agenda, a notebook - the purpose is to find a system that sustains you to be more productive and organised in a way that makes you happy. Then ask yourself what is the use of it - in what areas can offer you an easier way to have order, or maybe free more time so that you can spend the gain minutes doing what you like or you are passionate about it. And also please note down that it is a journey and whatever works for you - it is perfect, regardless of what you see on social media (some of those are just for the pictures - with zero utility behind) so choose your path wise :) And reach out to me if you feel I can support you in this journey.
