Time management

"The shorter way to do many things is to only do one thing at a time."

Mozart

Every time I promise myself that I will write more often, something hits me and I take an unlimited break from the blog, I gather articles and subjects in draft, but those get to be published over a month or two from their first appearance.

On one hand is sad, on the other hand one can only be happy that has a full life, so full that is left with little time to write. And third, I envy those that rock the time management part and even if they have a more active life than me, a career more blossoming than mine, kids and other responsibilities they find time, at least once per week to write. KUDOS to you, amazing people! One of my desire at every new year's crossing is that in the next 365 days to become a more intimate friend with all that means and do Time Management.

Now don't get me wrong, I like to have time to read, cook, spend time with the people I love or to volunteer, but my strong belief is that if I would have a better preparation for the way I spend the 24 hours I could get to do more staff. Fortunately, or unfortunately the insomnia let me go and that translates into a minimum of 6 hours spent sleeping. After some long years when 2-3 hours of sleep per night was all I could get, I discover that I have a torrid affair with the sleep and that the bed is our silent and deaf witness that covers this iniquity from the world.

All this lead me to start an adventure with better time organisation and efficiency apps. I know, I know - it could be fun, and now I can make a honest review for the most of them, because I did give them a try. Some of them had been used for a few days, some even a week.

Since my laptop is IOS and my mobile is an Android I had to look for apps that run on both, so all mention in here are running both-ways ;) so you are covered!

First is Trello - I work with it in JCI and Toastmasters and also in 2 companies that were using it as part of the business apps. I like it, is nice, you get notification, is more for laptop than for mobile but is super user friendly, you don't need a PhD in order to use it. Is free (well the basic - but you don't need more) and you can personalised it as you wish.

Asana and Basecamp came next, since they were familiar from the volunteering life, were  the next logical and full of comfort step - not my cup of tea on the mobile so no thank you. They are amazing for team work and project management, but they are not what I am looking for. So I started with the less known apps and try some new ones, as well.

Sectograph - a very cool and sort of easy to use app that looks like a clock. For a visual and a methodical person is a dream come true. If you are willing to buy some extensions, it becomes even more fun since you can change or ad more colours, or do other stuff to it. I used the free one, so just the basics but it was enough for me.

Planner Pro - such a waste of download - just the simple calendar like the one you already have on your mobile. We didn't spend time together after the designer hit me with his lack of creativity.

I am still looking for the perfect application, what apps are you using while trying to befriend the time?
